Professional background and credentials
Luna holds a master's degree in Phytotherapy from the University of Barcelona and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University, where they studied programming, molecular biology, neuroscience, and business. During their undergraduate studies, Luna developed a strong interest in DIY and DIWO (do-it-with-others) science projects as well as open science more generally, which they carried into their master's program. Their bachelor’s thesis involved a DIWO project investigating how non-neural organisms can solve logic problems. For their master’s thesis, Luna focused on compiling a list of plants with clinically studied effects on H. pylori, a bacterium associated with gastric cancer. Outside academia, Luna has been slowly growing a career as a grassroots project catalyst, dedicating their efforts to organizing events and workshops that empower communities to achieve their social and environmental goals through creative practices. They are the co-founder of Litu, a Spanish NGO focused on environmental justice and inclusion, as well as the co-organizer of AmazôniaHack, an open hackathon aimed at protecting the Amazon rainforest. At Omni, Luna continues to explore diverse fields and enjoys creating engaging, informative content — particularly on social and environmental topics. Achievements
As part of their professional career, Luna has played a role in the creation of many different organizations and projects. One that they are particularly proud of is Young Office Zilina, a Slovak youth cultural collective that has now become a cornerstone of youth cultural action in the region.
