Hania holds a Ph.D. degree in Bioacoustics / Mechanical Engineering, obtained at AGH University of Science and Technology. Has participated in research work in labs in France and the UK and presented papers at several international conferences. Hania has a penchant for photography and graphic design. When she’s not in the office, she’s probably traveling, hiking, or out in the field watching birds and recording their calls.

From an early age, Hania has always been interested in a wide array of subjects, making it difficult to settle on just one path. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to biomedical engineering, an interdisciplinary field that covers a diverse range of disciplines — from medicine and biology through physics, chemistry, and materials science to electronics, robotics, or programming. After the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Hania continued her academic career in the field of mechanical engineering and bioacoustics. She earned her Ph.D. researching machine learning and deep learning models for the automatic detection and classification of bird calls from long-term recordings that can support nocturnal passerine bird migration research. The chosen degrees and then career in Omni perfectly aligned with her curiosity and desire to explore multiple areas of science. Hania is also dedicated to popularizing science and the results of scientific research. Her PhD work was featured in the Science in Poland portal, and she has participated in radio programs discussing her research. At Omni Calculator, she has created over 170 publicly accessible online calculators on a wide range of topics, with these related to ecology and environment being particularly popular. Those calculators have been widely shared and promoted by renowned media outlets such as National Geographic and The New York Times. For the past few years, Hania has been the Head of the Research and Content Department at Omni Calculator, leading the team of amazing Scientific Content Creators and Translators — also known as Calculatorians.
Hania defended her Ph.D. thesis with distinction and presented her research at fifteen conferences, including six international ones. On top of that, she participated in two international scientific workshops and delivered two invited seminars. As a doctoral researcher, she contributed to the OPUS NCN grant, conducting experimental studies on the electrical and strength properties of piezoelectric components. Additionally, she has served as a reviewer for international journals and received several scholarships and university grants throughout her academic career. When it comes to international experience, Hania spent one semester in France at the Grenoble Institute of Technology as part of the Erasmus+ program, where she achieved an excellent result, placing in the top 5% of students in the biomedical engineering program. During her time at the university, Hania has participated in two international internships. The first, focused on the biomedical engineering field, took place at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research in Lyon, France, where she researched the role of shear forces in generating heat through ultrasound. A year later, she interned at Queen Mary University of London in the UK at the Machine Listening Laboratory, where she gained expertise in machine learning methods for detecting and recognizing bird sounds. This experience led to international collaborations, resulting in joint projects and publications with British scientists.
