It takes into account:

• The fact that spring equinox happens more or less on the 21st of March every year - in the calculation, we use this date, as it's a date set by the Church; and
• The first full Moon that happens after the equinox, so the first full Moon of spring.

The first full Moon of spring is also called the Paschal full Moon. It sets the date of Easter Sunday pretty straightforwardly. Easter Sunday is simply the first Sunday after Paschal full Moon.

Let's say we would like to perform an Easter date calculation for 2050:

1. The spring equinox date is set - it's 21st of March. It's not the exact astronomical moment of the equinox most of the time, but its the date the Christian Church uses.
2. Next, let's determine when the first full Moon happens after that date. In 2050, the first full Moon of spring will take place on the 7th of April.
3. Then we have to find the first Sunday after that, which is Easter Sunday, or Resurrection Sunday.
4. In 2050, Easter will take place on the 10th of April.
5. Now you know how Easter is determined!
